Everything you say to yourself either serves you or sabotages you. Do you tell yourself you can do it, do you tell yourself you deserve it or do you tell yourself something different, something less supportive? Turn those thoughts around and replace them with positive self talk. When you take note of what you are thinking do you hear yourself. Most of us can't hear ourselves, at least we don't hear ourselves the way others do. The truth is we don't do a very good job of listening to ourselves. One way to be mindful of what we are saying to ourselves and the way others hear us, is to closely observe others as we are speaking. Are people smiling when you talk. Do people even acknowledge that you are speaking. The next time you talk to someone take the time to ask yourself how you want to be heard by the person you are talking to. Actors and Actresses do this all the time, they do it so well that people believe them to be the characters they play.
Many times people don't see us the way we want to be seen because we haven't taken the time to see ourselves first. The same is true of the way you speak, even if you have to rehearse listen to yourself, think of it as looking at yourself in the mirror to make sure everything is in place. The next time you are in a conversation take the time to think before you talk. Do you want to be positive,honest and confident with others, it all begins with what you believe about yourself and what you say to yourself.
